SMLE No1 Mk III Leather Scope Cover

Your 1942 dated caps by B.H.G. Ltd. (a known wartime British contractor of canvas and leather equipment) were used for the iconic No. 32 Mk I or Mk II Telescopic Sight. This 3.5-power scope was famously fitted to the British Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I (T) sniper rifle. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

The \(\sim 32\text{mm}\) cap fits the front objective (sunshade) bell, and the \(\sim 23\text{mm}\) cap fits the rear eyepiece. Original leather covers were standardized under British "O.S." (Optical Stores) specifications and designed with an interconnecting strap. [1, 2]
